Want to discover how to make your home the sustainable abode you’ve always wanted it to be? It’s time for ” 28 Days to a Gently Sustainable Home”!
Like most people, we all find ourselves in different places financially through out life. You might need to take a hard look at your finances for the first time in years. Perhaps you’re someone who has taken on too much debt and you’re near drowning. Others have income problems and yet others, are a combination.
While it may be tempting to make budgets (that you won’t keep) and to start clipping coupons, there is a better and more sensible way to get back on track financially.
I believe that there is a more gentle and natural way to create a financially sustainable home.
That said, I want to invite you to join me on a 28 Day Journey to a More Sustainable Home!
Money problems arise when the home’s economy isn’t running well. Yes, the home is the “ground zero” of all financial decisions. Every dollar spent is based on personal philosophies about how things should be at home, and not necessarily based on needs. That’s why I want to help you to examine these principles, more than I want to show you how to create a budget.
Think about all of the things you purchase and pay for:
*Rent or mortgage
*Tuition and school fees
All of these expenditures rotate around the running of the home! The “home economy” is at the heart of everything we spend.
Further, every home economy has parameters which it must learn to stay within. There are many limits we must all deal with, but for now, let’s focus on money…what comes in and what goes out.
For the next 28 days, broken down in to 4 consecutive weeks, we will un-pack each one of these mantras from the Great Depression. This is a timeless catchphrase that captures the principles of the home economy like nothing else.
My guess is that you’ve seen this before, but I doubt that you’ve ever given much thought to the time period and the history behind this saying.
The homemakers of the time, again during The Great Depression, were dealing with unprecedented circumstances. The country was at war and there was not only a great deal of fear and uncertainty among the people, but resources were in short supply.
Soldiers were given first priority of the available food, to keep them strong and able to fight for our freedom.
The home front was forced to deal with shortages and food rations, like nothing our generation has ever dealt with.
Jobs were in short supply and many families had lost their farms and homes, thanks partly to the Stock Market Crash of 1929.
Times were tough to say the least.
These principles kept families afloat and children fed, even during the worst economic time in our nation’s history. There is infinite wisdom here and the principles are timeless!
From my experience, when principles of the home economy are being followed, the budget will fall into line. Financial resilience will then follow.
So, join me on this 28 Day Journey to a Gently Sustainable Home! Let’s get started!
